The Amokura
The Amokura, or red tailed tropic bird, is an occasional visitor to New Zealand, spending the majority of life travelling the seas. Considered one of the most beautiful birds of the Pacific, it was welcomed by the Maori, as it was highly prized for its plumage, particularly the bright red central tail feathers which could reach 50cm in length.
